How to Open License Management Tool in Microstation V8i
Microstation V8i is a powerful software for design, modeling and visualization. It requires a license to run, which can be obtained from Bentley Systems. The license can be managed using the License Management Tool, which can be opened in several ways. In this article, we will show you how to access the License Management Tool in Microstation V8i.
Method 1: From Microstation V8i Menu
If you have Microstation V8i installed and running, you can open the License Management Tool from the menu bar. Go to Utilities > License Management and click on it. This will launch the License Management Tool window, where you can see your license status, activate or deactivate licenses, check for updates, and more.
Method 2: From Windows Start Menu
You can also open the License Management Tool from the Windows Start menu. Go to Start > Programs > Bentley > SELECTserver > Bentley License Management Tool and click on it. This will launch the same window as Method 1.
Method 3: From Windows Explorer
Another way to open the License Management Tool is to locate the executable file in Windows Explorer and double-click on it. The file name is licensetool.exe and it is typically located in one of these folders:
64-Bit applications: C:\Program Files\Bentley\[Application Name] (SELECTseries)\[Application Name]\licensetool.exe
32-Bit applications: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\[Application Name](SELECTseries)\[Application Name]\licensetool.exe
This will launch the same window as Method 1 and 2.
Note:
Bentley Systems has announced that SELECTserver support will be discontinued and desktop application deprecation will be effective from January 1, 2021. This means that Microstation V8i and other older versions of Bentley software will not be able to access licenses from SELECTserver after that date. Users are advised to upgrade to CONNECT Edition or contact Bentley for node-locked licenses.
