How to Enable RealView Graphics for SolidWorks 2020
RealView Graphics is a feature of SolidWorks that allows you to see realistic shading, reflections, and shadows on your 3D models. However, this feature is only available for certain graphics cards that are certified by SolidWorks. If you have an Intel OnBoard Graphic Card or an Nvidia GeForce card, you may not be able to turn on RealView Graphics by default. Fortunately, there is a workaround that can enable RealView Graphics for any graphics card. Here are the steps to follow:
Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Windows search tool and pressing Enter.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\SolidWorks\\SolidWorks 2020\\Performance\\Graphics\\Hardware\\Current.
Copy your graphics card name and the value under Workarounds. For example, if you have an Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 card, you should copy Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 and 4000080.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\SolidWorks\\SolidWorks 2020\\Performance\\Graphics\\Hardware\\G12Shaders\\Other.
If your graphics card is not listed under Other, right-click on Other and select New > Key.
Rename the new key as your exact graphics card name as copied in step 3. For example, Intel(R) HD Graphics 520.
Right-click on the new key and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Rename the new value as Workarounds.
Right-click on Workarounds and select Modify. Enter the value data as copied in step 3 (with the base in Hexadecimal) and click OK. For example, 4000080.
Close the Registry Editor and start SolidWorks.
You should now be able to enable RealView Graphics from the View menu or the Heads-up View toolbar.
Note: This workaround may not work for all graphics cards or all versions of SolidWorks. Use it at your own risk and make sure to back up your registry before making any changes.
